WHY MUSC FOR YOUR CHILD?
Our History:
Monroe United was founded in 1994 as a competitive travel club associated with USYSA. Our teams participate in several leagues in Southern NY State including the Eastern NY Premier League, East Hudson Youth Soccer League and the Metropolitan Area Premier League (MAPS). We field girls and boys travel teams U-8-U-19 and have a developmental in-house league for 3-8 year olds. We are active in league "Select" and the NY ODP Program and provide an Elite Academy for high level player development. 100% of our high school eligible players are selected to their respective school teams. Monroe United is a "non profit" "volunteer" driven organization. We offer opportunities for players of all levels to compete locally in the Hudson Valley. Parents should beware of so-called "Premier" soccer training businesses that claim to "offer training above and beyond" what clubs like MUSC provide. These organizations pay their administrators and coaches large salaries and their decisions regarding your child are often driven by economics.
Why Monroe United for your child?
Monroe United is a member us USYSA (United States Youth Soccer Association) is the LARGEST and most successful youth soccer program in the country.
If you are a travel player looking to play at the very highest level, Monroe United fields highly competitve Divison One and Premier level teams. If you are a travel player looking to work your way up to D-1 or Premier level play, we also field lower division teams in some age groups. Unlike the "profit driven" organizations that have sprung up in recent years, Monroe United (a non profit) continues our commitment to our players at all levels allowing them to compete locally at an affordable rate. Our trainers remain with our team from year to year to maintain consistency and in-depth knowledge of our players. This is unike many travel programs who bring in new trainers every year resulting in a lack of continuity in team training. Our system has resulted in many of our players receiving college scholarships (See "Scholarship" link on navigator). In addition, many of our players have made the Olympic Development teams and have gone on to play in Division-One College Programs.
If you are just starting out, our Player Development Program (PDL) is designed to give your child a competitve advantage by teaching the correct skills needed to play on travel and High School teams. This is done in a fast paced and fun environment where every player receives equal playing time and players are selected on a first come first served basis (not on skill level).
Coaching:
Monroe United is known throughout the Hudson Valley as having the most rigorous coaching standards and training of any club in the area. All of our coaches are required to submit to background checks and travel coaches must meet minimum USSF licensing requirements. This includes a USSF "D" license for travel coaches U-10 and up and a four-course coaching module for our PDL Program.
Our Philosophy:
No player should be left behind! Positve COMPETENT coaching is critical to your child's success. Monroe United believes that children will enjoy the game of soccer more and will want to continue to play at higher levels when given the tools to learn the game properly at an early age.
Our Size:
Monroe United is not the largest soccer club in the area and our objective is to stay that way! We believe that in order to teach the game of soccer properly, trainer/coach to player ratio must be maintained at managable levels. Monroe United currently fields about 200 players in our travel program and 225 players in our PDL Program. When it comes to teaching soccer, bigger is not better!
See for yourself:
Please take the time to browse this site. If you are a travel player looking for a competitve program, look at our "College Showcase" and "Scholarship" pages and compare our players results to other area clubs. If you are the parent of a player who is just starting out, consider where Monroe United's track record of success can take your child. Our track record and exceptional reputation within the local soccer community speak for themselves!
